Sorry, I dunno what they're referring to.
Oh, that logo is supposed to be a chrome apple or something.
powerbook duo's were apple's sub-notebook for quite some time.

I would consider jefhatfield & the original founders as the base group, those of the 2000 - 2001 class "Charter Members" those the rest of us look up to & respect! :)

85C seems high, I have a 17 and a 20 and they fold 24/7 the CPU runs between 145F and 160F, which is about 72C. What's your ambient temperature and what do you use to get the CPU temperature?
If it really runs that hot, I'd be careful too.

Research it some more? The subject line of the original post "Did anyone else notice this?" is rather ambiguous, and you wouldn't assume to find it there.

I hope so. By the time this hits Europe I'll be able to play proper online games in the living room. Right now the fireplace surround is made from brick and DESTROYS WiFi signals. haha. good timing, if true.
I'll attack the picture of the box art from Ubisoft's site

I wouldn't exactly call this "cracked". I followed the process on my PC and used iTunes to convert the tracks instead of burning them to CD. This would work to get free music for two weeks but it is very time consuming and not very practical. I guess if you are going to listen to the music after downloading it anyway, then go for it. Just waiting for someone to have a program to launch that just disables the DRM and then converts the track to MP3 instead of this WMA crap.
The Napster interface is just horrible. There are so many links and buttons, I don't know what I should press. Also, they are not very clear as to what is free in your 14 day trial. I think it should be anything I want but I am going to be checking my credit card statement online every day to make sure. I don't want to pay for music from their crap store and then convert it to WAV so I can put it on my iPod.
Another thing I found funny: Napster has Metallica in their library. Weren't they the ones that started the lawsuits against the original Napster?? Guess things change when they can make a buck.

Just a few details. I can verify the subject of the post is genuine and as far I recall it has been pretty well talked about by Intel and planned for some time. It certainly hasn't been kept secret.
I would however be a touch surprised if it is called the PV. It really is very much an evolution of the PIV and nothing new.
The 1MB Level 2 cache is expected it roughly doubles every fabrication generation improvement at the moment. AMD has already planned the same for the Hammer series. The faster FSB is also nothing new or surprising.
The current PIV has ~55 million transistors though and a rough doubling over a fabrication generational change isn't unexpected.
Really there's nothing new there that Intel hasn't had roadmapped since early 2002 and before.
On the Apple side I have said this before and I will say it again. The G4 core has life. Improvements can be made to easily lift its performance substantially and there are things worth note coming :) Whether they will arrive on time is another matter and whether they will satisfy everybody I can't say but given people are rarely pleased I'd say probably not :p

Voted for IV, but it's really II. Golbez was the Best Villian Ever. He's big, he engages you in fights you can't win (well used in this game), and drops Meteo on you. Plus, cool theme music.
Yeah, Golbez was quite evil. More evil than Kefka, the "silent, just mess you up" type. :)
Golbez was a boss that was easier to hate, that's for sure. He did worse to more people than Kefka. Still...
Kefka was a useless, giggling fop.
...that's one of the reasons why I liked him. He was so insane he laughed half the time he did anything. I liked that part of his character.
In fairness to Sephiroth (screw Aeris), he did also destroy your town, kill Tifa's dad, and get within inches of dropping a killer meteor on the whole planet.
The only time I've ever thought Sephiroth was cool was in Advent Children and that was briefly.
IMO in FFVII he was a big emo pansy, just like Cloud. The only character in FFVII I really liked was Vincent...the rest of them I could've done without. Barrel/Barrett was a stereotypical clichd idiot, Yuffie was dumb and annoying, Red XIII was alright, Cid was...Cid, Tifa was cute and that's about it, Cait Sith was ok...am I missing any? I can't believe I wasted the 30 hours I did on FFVII before quitting and never going back because I couldn't stand the game anymore.

Thanks! Didn't think about clock()!
Though, that gives me 100.8 seconds (assuming 10.08 seconds) when it ran in 10 seconds. Didn't you mean to divide by ten?

Well, that's the PC version. And even if it is 8x, it will still work in a 4x. Not quite as good, but it will still be much faster than an older card. I doubt theres much of a difference anyway...

If Apple wants to send its new workstations into the stratosphere, they need to have the new Dual Channel 333 DDR RAM. It has a bandwidth up to 5.3GB/sec. It is also known as DDR-II RAM.
Intel based systems are getting it next month. The new ram and chipsets are causing a big stink because for the first time RAMBUS RDRAM, which is party owned by Intel, will be #2 in bandwidth performance. Plus the new DDR-II RAM will be a lot cheaper than RDRAM.

Supposedly, stores are in the works in the Vancouver (Pacific Centre, but possibly in a street level store nearby), Montreal (Le Carrefour Laval), and Calgary (Chinook Centre).
Thanks. That would be great if we got one in Pacific Center.

The first time I inserted a DVD I had to pick a region, this is on my 2 year old PowerBook G4. It might be a Mac OS X 10.3 thing ?
But I think Breckenridge iMac is new so don't worry.

To squash some WinTel people in this forum/post trying to say Windows scales better than UNIX.
Spec of a Sun machine running UNIX.
Key Specifications:
Up to 106 UltraSPARC III Cu 900-MHz processors.
Big memory - more than 1/2 TB.
Up to 18 fifth-generation Dynamic System Domains, which are fully configurable while applications are running.
Hot-swappable Uniboard design CPU/memory boards that are common across Sun Fire server family.
Redundant, high-performance Sun[tm] Fireplane Interconnect with up to 172.8 GBps peak bandwidth.
Full redundancy of power and cooling systems.
Oh yeah! OS X is UNIX also. Hmmm.
Single CPU vs. Multi CPU. Who cares?
Macs are the whole package.
Nuff said!
