There will likely be a few case changes to incoporate the magnetic latch and easy drive swapping. With such minor changes, these laptops are no more likely to have problems than other laptop. According to Consumer Reports (http://www.consumerreports.org:80/cro/index.htm), the industry rate of repairs on laptops is 16-19%, with Apple coming in at 17% (considerably worse than its repair rate for desktops). So, there is about a 1 in 6 chance that your MBP will need repairs at some time.

I see your point, but in that example there were already products in the market using the term "mp3 player". In the case of App Store, was that term previously in use? And by the way, "Mighty Mouse" wasn't a trademark violation, they listed that it was used with permission from day one.

I understand the need for a mid level consumer tower, but right now

The cluttered, wire infested desktop is also none too popular with many people.
That's why the AOI iMac is so popular.
The MacBook is already more powerful than the majority of desktops MOST
average users have in their home.
The mini does a respectable job filling the affordable hassle free niche.
Heck, if you don't count the extra RAM cost, the Xeon powered Mac Pro 2.66 Quad is priced neck and neck with the mid level MacBook Pro.

Apple still doesn't have upload to a cloud or wireless syncing, and Windows Phone does. 25 GB free sky drive, as well as a beautiful hub where you choose what to access at a glance. In iOS, you have to flick and flick, especially if you have many apps. The wireless syncing is slick. Facebook integration flawless. WP7 also now has cut, copy, and paste and HTML5 before the end of the year. I'm sorry, but hooking up with the largest mobile phone manufacture is a no brainer.

Show me a 7200 RPM (or better yet a 10,000+ SCSI rated) drive connected to USB3 AND TB (or even FW800) and then compare their actual speeds. OR find an array that goes fast like the one Intel was using that also has USB3 on it and compare their actual speeds 1 to 1. I think the 5200 RPM 2.5" drive that came with my MBP capped out around 50MB/sec using a SATA II interface (or 450mbps). Does that prove my SATA chip set SUCKS? NO, IT DOES NOT. When I replaced it with a 7200 RPM Hitachi, it now caps out around 110MB/sec (or 880mbps, well above FW800's theoretical cap even). Even my PPC G4 gets 105MB/sec caps with its 1.5TB 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda drives (and SATA does eat CPU as well; if I try to run two of them at the same time I still get a total of around 100MB/sec with the CPU pegged at 95-100%. The older PCI bus is also in the way. Thus it's not the SATA interface there that's the problem either, but you might think so if you make assumptions based only on one test number and no idea what's in the computer being used or any statistics about the CPU or Bus while its being used. Your YouTube videos comparisons are absurd in that regard. Cheap mass storage devices (like the Lacie) aren't made for performance. Show me TB making that same drive do over 100MB/sec. Most people aren't editing 4 simultaneous streams of 1080p video on a mega-buck professional high-speed drive array.

LOL! You might want to ask them what the data rates on the actual hard drive (or drives) in the case is. LaCie makes nice stuff, but it's quite gimmicky to only talk about interface transfer rates when the real performance is dependent on the hard drives.

Something that has been mentioned a few times here and there that I would like clarifying. I will be purchasing (as part of a group order) an MPB this Saturday. When I go to the apple website, for glossy, it says 5-7 days. If I ordered the MBP, and somehow managed to hold onto it without tearing it open until the 25th, could I really send it in, unopened, for an updated MBP not questions asked?
As long as it's not a BTO, you should be able to return the MBP within the 14 day grace period. There is a restocking fee, but several people have stated that if you ask nicely (maybe bake some cookies for them?) they'll waive the restocking fee.

I also fear Apple's ridiculous 10.6.7 downgrade was somehow to show the MBA's IGP isn't as bad as it is going to be with SB IGP. Look at OpenGL performance on it, as it dropped 30% from 10.6.6. Now, we have seen Apple screw these things up before, but they also market their new products based upon prior products and list an OS X version tested on the prior gen. If they reverse course with 10.6.8 or 10.7, in the new MBA, then they might show only a 20% loss in IGP performance vs. the prior Nvidia 320m... when in reality, it might be more like a 50% plus loss in performance.

Unfortunately for Greenpace, it's a private event. Fair or not, if the organizers of said event feel like it's enough to throw them out, then it is!
Also, let's give credit where credit is due. Apple even allowing Greenpeace to have a booth there in the fist place is akin to the Republicans allowing the Democrats to deliver a speech during the Republican Nat'l Convention, or vice versa. That's a pretty gracious move on Apple's part. They had nothing to gain by Greenpeace being there, and a lot to lose. I'm sure Apple's tolerance levels for them was extremely low coming in, and rightfully so.

Um, it's most current whenever you buy it.
As long as you're not buying the past generation, anyway.
If you walked into the Apple Store today and bought a 2GHz MacBook, it'd be the most current.
But if you buy right after an update, instead of right before, your computer will remain current for a longer time. Can't really blame people for wanting to hold out for a rev, especially when it's inevitable that it will be very soon.
As long as you're not buying the past generation, anyway.
