So the theory they seem to be positing here is that most of the former Symbian users are going to become Windows Mobile users. If you look at the market share figures they show Windows climbing to the 20.9% share that Symbian currently has and Symbian largely ceasing to exist.
The reality is that the OS of phones is becoming the key differentiator. You decide iPhone, Android, or Windows, and then from there you decide the specific hardware you want to run. Nobody is going to be looking for a Nokia phone specifically and then just taking whatever OS it runs.
So if you assume that Android, iOS and Windows are all equal competitors, then figure, at most, Windows is going to take 1/3rd of the market from former Symbian users. Those users will be looking at three OS's that are all completely different from Symbian, so there's no reason to believe they'd have any particular loyalty to the Windows mobile OS because of former Symbian use on a Nokia phone.

I know a couple people holding out on the Air for a backlit keyboard. If that doesn't get updated, they just won't buy it. Come on Apple, you can't give us the ability to type in the dark, and then just take it away.

Note that if I'm right (trust me!), then there's a gap.... no Apple box with a Conroe? I don't think so.... Apple will introduce a new system with support for a single Conroe. Hopefully it won't be the MacPro with a different mobo, but a completely new box (fingers crossed).
Perhaps some kind of high performance consumer-oriented/gaming-oriented tower?
(Just pure speculation...)

it not be too long until all music is purchased in digital format and only accessible via a cloud service. this means thats actually having a copy of a song (to share) will be a thing of the past. You pay your $9.99 for an album and happily listen to it for a couple of years, then the labels decided that album is more valuable than the original price and ask you for another $2 if you wish to access it again from the cloud.
I actually expect it to be worse than that.
Imagine if you 'buy' a cloud-only song for 99 cents, The fine-print will say that this 'rental' is only good for 90 days or 1 year. You'll then have to 'buy it again' to keep listening to the song. Or there might be a limit of 100 times to listen to the song. And in 10 years, we'll think of this as the 'norm'.
There are so many ingenious ways to make money when you don't own the actual physical media, and I'm sure the record labels are devising these schemes as we speak.

Current thickness isn't a problem for me. Neither is the design aesthetic overall (though I would love to see what Ives comes up with).
What I want from this redesign has been mostly said before. I want to replace my 2010 15" Hi-Res Glossy 2.4GHz i5 MacBook Pro with something fairly personalized.
A switch to Blade SSDs would be spectacular, but it seems impractical that they would replace the HDDs as the primary drives. Size and cost/GB just are not right yet. However, a blade/HDD BTO option would be good as well, particularly if they were able to get the SSD past 256GB (I want at least 380GB). The question is how that particular option would be implemented. In a perfect world, I would like the blade and HDD options at the expense of the optical drive, which would allow the battery to be even larger. It seems like keeping the 2.5" HDD standard would preclude that from being standardized across the lineup, though, which means Apple will probably not pursue that course.
Plus, if the OD is removed, there does not need to be an opening on that size the enclosure.
I agree that it's high time we got a third USB port, even if we're stuck at 2.0. A second Thunderbolt port seems like it might be excessive for now, but even a single USB 3 port (along with two USB 2.0) would really make for an awesome upgrade.
My guess is that Ethernet is here to stay for a while, unless the fears that MacBook Pro 2012 will be MacBook Pro Air 2012 are indeed accurate.
I hope the bezel on the monitor slims down by a millimeter (or several) on either side and the top. Squeezing a 15" screen into a laptop with width/depth closer to that of a 14" machine would be more valuable than shaving a millimeter off of the bottom, if you ask me.
Oh, and a bump to a 16" screen at 1920x1080 would be ever so magical, I don't know what I'd do with myself.
