2k for the top of the line workstation is very good. Add to that you can now put a cinema display with it for 699.

If you are correct in your assessment, then an Apple buyer will likely choose to buy the computer he loves rather than that new suite of office furniture. After all, if he loves his 1999 PowerMac G3, then he expects to love a new 2001 PowerMac G4 even more. In the words of that old Beatles song: "Love is all you need."
Still, Mac users tend to hold onto their machines. I offer an alternate theory. The average Mac user doesn't "love" his or her computer. He/she bought it and uses it because it allows him/her to concentrate on getting the job done. The Mac "just works" without a lot of fuss or muss. One software package installed on it can be upgraded without fear that the other software will be broken by the upgrade.

There are PCs which are purchased by users with their own money. A small fraction of those build their own machines. However, the vast majority of PCs are used in business. The users are paid to use them.
The Mac and PC markets have very different dynamics. People who buy Macs tend to purchase them with funds at their disposal for their own use. Mac users tend to provide their own technical support. People who buy PCs tend to purchase them with other people's money for use by third parties. Upgrading software and peripherals can be a nighmare. Buying new machines is an expensive form of technical support.

Yep, my modest PDA mock-up that has been reincarnated several times to my surprise.
I lurked for a while before and after that and didn't start posting a lot until the iWalk incident  I really couldn't believe people were going for that.
And eye, I already did find your first post. Maybe a mod could delete the diorio post and I''ll edit mine to say that, of course I've never seen you guys delete a post when a user requests it.

Even though no one seems to really post in here, it could be a nice place to have secluded discussion about MR stuff instead of on the General board.
Just my random thought after finding this forum for the first time.
Its 'exclusiveness' and yeah It needs to be moved.

Probably better suited in this forum...
Windows on the Mac (http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86)
But yes, it's been discussed before. Potentially, a Windows virus could infect the OS X partition.
Bugger I didn't see that forum. Hopefully this post can be moved soon. :o
It can infect the mac partition? oh well there goes my 'theory'

Dose any one leave it on the hole night? I whould but i dont know if its good for the ps3.
According to one of the Sony execs (I can't remember which one) it's fine to leave it on all night as far as the PS3 itself goes. And if it does somehow break it's definitely under warranty.

To crack (more so by pass) the activation on a non corparate copy you have to really know what you are doing and that is when you have a guild on how to do it.
It's actually not that difficult. As a moderator I'm supposed to set an example, so I won't go into details, but I've done it myself :)

Any critique that rates any game with a perfect score needs to be shot.

GameHippo gave Satan Sam 9/10, I value that more than a drunkard 10/10.
Lie. Would still have liked 10

The 12" is fine as a low-end notebook like it is now, Apple has no need to change that setup.
The 14" should be made more high end compared to the 12" and given a new case to reflect that, Apple may want to try this to give a boost to sales. It's biggest problem is that it needs something to really set it apart from the other iBooks and this would serve that function.

You probably have an old config file which it uses. When you type work in terminal, what do you get?

Try the GeForce 4 mod in that link, but it doesn't sound completely hopeful. It appears PunkBuster doesn't appreciate that mod. Good luck.
Do read the other pages. It explains the config files and such.
Dosn't work I don't think.
This REALLY sucks.

I've always used firefox as an alternative for a browser on my PC. I was considering using it for my mac when it used the mac aqua them in 0.73. Now, firefox uses the same theme all across OS's.
Firefox has more features than safari: allowing pop-up for some sites and blocking cookies from some sites) I hope that safari in OS 10.4, tiger, will improve a lot. I still download the latest firefox version for my mac; there are times when some sites do not work safari and do on firefox.
Sometimes i wish safari used the mozilla gecko engine instead of konquerer ... that way website developers only have to worry about compatibility issues with 2 browsers instead of 3. Firefox on mac is fast, i'm sure apple programmers could make it faster.

I will have been registered a year in 3 weeks, but I know I only have about 270 posts. I try not to post anything unless I have knowledge or a strong opinion on something, however, I read many more than I respond to and so I seem in the background. I bet there are a lot of "vets" that are the same way.

Not likely, but neither is the Jukebox likely to achieve four hours. I should have been more clear that this is the theoretical maximum based on the maximum throughput of the respective port hardware:
USB: 12mbit/sec is 1.5MB/sec. 20,000MB at 1.5MB/sec is about 3.7 hours.
Firewire: 400mbit/sec is 50MB/sec. 20,000MB at 50MB/sec is about 6.7 minutes.
You won't get the maximum throughput with either technology, but the example illustrates the difference between the two. Your results with either will vary.

I'll buy it tomorrow. I don't trust IGN anymore as far as reviews are concerned. The DS it was a blast, so long as it holds true to the format which even in the review it seems to, plus adding the 2 player battle it still seems like a great game.
Then again this is coming from someone who liked *gasp* Sonic on the PS3 :p
I'll write up a review on this and on Oblivion this weekend for you all :)
