I have a qustion for you all. Is Apple going to introduce it s Xserve with AMD processors because they are better (and even so for the "just in case" situation if it ever arises with intel)
And are they ever going to change the names of their applications for example iLife to MacLife or something like that...
Changing iTunes to MacTunes would not make sense for windows iTunes users.
By the way Microsoft has universal drivers for its hardware to run on Macintosh computers.

Before we see any of the products that you listed, I hope that we will see an OS X version of Picasa. (I am among the 1% of Mac users that do not like iPhoto.)

annk - very strange. You should only get that message if you try to vote within a 24 hour period. I had no problems and I haven't had anyone tell me the same thing. I'm not sure what happened. The contest is about to be over anyway. Thanks for at least trying!!!

The 15" Flat Panel iMac DVD-R/CD-RW was $1799 back when the 17" Flat Panel iMac was released...now it is $1699. The DVD-ROM/CD-RW was $1599, now $1499.
As I say, new prices.

I just uploaded version 0.4b. (see first post)
You can now see more data (if you wish) on your and team efforts.
I don't like how it looks now - the big version, that will be addressed later. When I redesign it, i will also leave out the 'title' (FoldingTracker), it's not really needed and leaving it out would make it smaller.
Thx for all the feedback so far chaps.

It needs an IR emitter to change channels on it's own so it can control a Digital TV box when your away from home.

Why would the processor trigger it? It's the same processors as before except the 1.25s and I don't think they put out that much more heat.
I do think you will see hot swappable drives but not in the fassion one would think. When the next version of Firewire comes out I see internal drives eventually using it. So that will make them hot swappable.

i have an old mac with spreadsheets on it and i have to convert beagle works (BWss) files so that i can run them on my new system i dont know how to do this, i bought a converter software but nothing i buy supports beagle works someone help please
Try exporting the data from Beagle Works (or Saving As, you might be able to get it into some other program, like Microsoft Excel, or AppleWorks.
If you could provide more info on your set-up, you'll probably get more responses.
Hope this helped

Why doesn't anybody ever mention the superdrive when talking about imac upgrades? An 8X4X24 Cd burner is slow. I've had a 16X10X40 for almost 2 years now in my peecee. Apple needs to upgrade this drive quickly. Just my two cents. ;)

Guys... this is hardly a copy of the cube! The only similarity is its shape; everything else about it is just a small PC. Is the CD drive slot-load? Is it on the top? Is there a vent on top? Is the computer raised up off the ground? No, no, no and no. To me, those are the distinguishing features of the cube.

You think Apple has always gone along at this rate? All computer companies have hit stumbling blocks at some point. A large group of computer manufacturors are about to do just that if Intel's Itanium doesn't show progress. All I ask is that everyone enjoy what we have. The current batch of computers in my oppinion are not slow by any standard. All you have to do is use one for a few hours and you will understand what I mean.

If Apple continues like that, producing fancy peripherals in palce of computers as it shuld be by the en of next year we are gonna see infomertials overflood by Apple products and with 1.4 GHz powermacs in the market.
Apple is doing a smoke bomb because of its incapacity of producing computers faster than PC's and trying to develop a OS superior and efficient than OS9.
BECAUSE JAGUAR IS NOT AS RELIABLE, FLEXIBLE, COMPATIBLE AND FRIENDLY THAN OS 9 !!!

I for one am absolutely in love with the curent iBook form factor, but I would be thrilled with a 13" screen in the current 12" case. Such a cool idea! As for everything else, all I really want is a video bump (maybe to a Radeon 32 mb card) and a processor speed bump. A G4 would be nice, but it's not necessary to sell the line. Still, an iBook with a 13" screen, 32mb video system, and a G4 running around 800 MHz sounds a whole lot like a TiBook. The only way any of this is going to happen is if the TiBooks get a big speed bump along with the iBooks at MWSF. Still, I'm buying then no matter what.

Even though no one seems to really post in here, it could be a nice place to have secluded discussion about MR stuff instead of on the General board.
Just my random thought after finding this forum for the first time.
Its 'exclusiveness' and yeah It needs to be moved.

Hi Ron,
I have a 500Mhz iBook with 66Mhz bus (OS 10.2, 384MB RAM). This machine is great for daily use, but is noticably slower than my Pentium III 600 Mhz desktop machine in almost every task. (In fairness, I should note that the PIII is Dell's top-of-the-line "Precision" model with SCSI disk and RAMBUS memory.)
The newer iBooks are at 600 and 700Mhz with a 100Mhz bus. I suspect that the newer iBooks are a good bit quicker than this one, but will probably not feel faster than your PIII, especially for Web browsing. It might be tougher to notice the difference in Word (or even Photoshop).
The biggest advantage of the TiBook, in my opinion, is the size of the screen and the ability to drive a second, external monitor.
Besides the inherent portability of a laptop, the best points of this machine are:
1) Quality and stability
- It is built tough!
- Excellent screen
--12" at 1024x768 may seem a little tight, but it's super-sharp and bright
2) Excellent value
- It is an extremely good value given the quality and standard ports
- Includes, Dual USB/Firewire/56K Modem/Ethernet/Video Out/Sound out
3) OS 10.2!
- Need I say more?
- Extremely stable (16 months of use with 1? Maybe 2 crashes?)
4) Excellent Power Management
- Apple's power management is the best
- Close the lid and it goes to sleep (will go more than a week in this mode)
- Open it up and it's awake in less than 2 seconds - where I left off
