Yeah I want true DDR, cheaper, better displays and a Power4 chip that kicks heavy arse, but I'd love to see a total rethink about Tower design, the same way the new iMac revolutionized PC design. Is a big clumsy tower the best solution we can thik of? No! Come on Apple! Challenge yourselves and come up with another great original idea. And cut down on the amount of wires! It's 2002 and we at least shouldn't have to plug in a mouse and keyboard anymore! Make something sleek and cool! Give us a 1984, Brave New World desktop!

I saw this link and it made me laugh...
http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/29/apple-os-x-appears-on-dells-driver-downloads/
if you head over here (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen) and select a machine, you'll get the option to choose MacOS X as an operating system...
how odd. They want MacOS that badly.
Hopefully, it's not a sign it's about to be licensed or anything though! :(It is just a bit strange, to be sure. However, you do not get an option to download MacOS X. You get the option of MacOS, which you know as MacOS 9. Suffice it to say, you cannot run MacOS 9 on a Dell Latitude X1.

It's a good mouse which I love. I use it on a daily basis.
I'm sure lots of mouses are better(*cough*iadmitmsmakessomegoodmouses*cough*), but for a mouse that comes with the computer and is white and pretty and can scroll horizontally and vertically.... it's fairly amazing.
So having this available in wireless would be awesome. I would buy.
And I don't know why Apple hasn't done it already. Is it that hard to make a mouse wireless?
well it took them thirty years to do the "two-button" mouse...apple works in mysterious and somewhat slow ways

Unfortunately audio/video chat is still a good while away and when it arrives it's not known whether it'll reach the quality of ichat.
There's just something about it that doesn't make me like having two clients open...
Totally agree...and wish there was some good way to get MSN webcamming on my Mac. :( I also can't wait to try initiating a multi-person chat from Adium. That's another feature I used that drove me to MSN msngr or iChat periodically....
But the contact list is very nice, although I had to spend about 10-15 minutes massaging it to get it back on the screen at once. Some of the size adjustment sliders seem kind of goofy -- I find them very hard to control, and the size limitations are strange. So I wanted my contact list in a single full screen height column, with everyone showing, with no scroll bar. I had that fine in 0.63, and I got in 0.7, but I had to go to an 8 point font and get rid of the avatars / status icons to make it fit, because they couldn't size down beyond 12x12. Which admittedly is just a slightly cuter looking version of what I had with 0.63. But still nice.

.... Anyone remember Firewire? ....Seeing as how virtually every HDTV settop box and digital camcorder ships with FireWire--both markets still in their infancy--I would say that quite a few people remember FireWire.

So I am trying to figure out what exactly happened to Spikey.
It looks like there were multiple instances of his being banned. Does anyone know exactly what happened?
Arn, you would be the expert on this, of course....

I have heard this discussed before, and someone made a point about the Codec chip being designed to handle certain compressed data, but (as I recall) they said that it couldn't handle AAC.
I have an iPod and hope that it is just a firmware update, but something tells me that it will be more than that.

Heh, you really are turning into the old man of macrumors there jef ;) I agree though. It's a shame those you listed (and omitted) were either too contentious for others to handle, or lost interest due to one reason or another. There's so many new members now that it's hard to get to know anyone like in the early days of MR.
Then again, you could always become a demi. Things get a lot more personal in there ;)

As far as I'm concerned you can have your 3GHz CPUS, because when it comes down to it, it can't run OS X. Thats the deal breaker for me. I didn't switch to Mac because it had faster hardware, I switched because the OS, the bundled software, and the hardware provided work so seamlessly and stably that its was asinine for me to choose otherwise.
Amen Brother, Mac hardware leaves a lot to be desired, but OS X is rock solid and worth the GHz hit.

That's fine. They don't have to fix every bug, only the ones that affect me. Everyone else can suffer :D
When you do find bugs, please make sure the developers know about them. It's simple to get an account on BugZilla (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/). Do some searches to see if your bug has already been reported. If it's not there, file a bug report. If you find it and want to add more information to the report, you can. You can also add yourself to the Cc: list for a bug and receive e-mail whenever the report is changed.
Unlike most pieces of commercial software (and many open source projects), the Mozilla projects have a proper bug database that's open to the public. This is a tremendous resource and you should take advantage of it. It's the best way for a non-programmer to help get the bugs fixed.

http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/08/01/0421248&from=rssSlashdot is not an authority. It is a discussion forum not unlike this one. In fact, one of the links made by the Slashdot OP was to AppleInsider, not exactly an authority either. The OP says that Palladium is a part of Intel-based Macs. This was not in dispute. I asked for a link to support iMeowbot's assertion that Palladium is intended to prevent MacOS X from being installed on non-Apple hardware. A post by a member of Slashdot does not meet that standard. In fact, MacOS X 10.4 has been installed on non-Apple hardware. Palladium did not prevent it. It was not even an issue.
