More accurately:
The GF4 MX is abou 10% faster than the Radeon 9000.
The Radeon 9700 is about 10% faster than the GF4 Ti.
The Radeon 9700 is about 150% faster than the GF4 MX.

Right now they are pretty heaving with all there eggs in one basket. If that market flops at some point in time apple goes with it.
Yeah, it's such a horrible idea to stay only in the personal computer market. It's going to completely crash any time now.

Quad of a Power4 chip? *laughs* Yes its doable if you want to pay 15 thousand dollars for your powermac. The whole point of IBM's new chip is to bring multiprocessor server-like performance to a single desktop chip. I am guessing if indeed Apple uses this new chip that one of them will probably cost Apple more than 2 of the exisiting 1.25ghz PowerPC chips

I still have not received credit for the WU that was turned in on august 29. I have also not received credit for any WU on the AMD 64 machines however I don't know if they have completed one yet I would think they have. I think I will post on stanfords site.

don't leave out proteus... its like adium, but more things are customizable... which is why I use it, I can't make the contact list look the way I want it to in Adium. Also, the main reason for me Proteus is superior, IM windows have the tabs on the side, so you can see what the tab says if you are talking to more then 3 people.

Not according to this.
That seems so very wrong. I could understand having to have a TV license if I was going to view the BBC, since that is where (I think) the money ends up going. However, if I was planning on receiving non-BBC related material (as mentioned above), it doesn't seem right that I would still pay a license fee that would go into the pockets of BBC.
Of course I may be wrong about where that money is going. As for their web services, the only I have ever used as been to read the news. I like knowing what is going on in the world, and I find it easy to visit BBC's website and get information from around the world. Blogs would be nice to read, if they had anything nice on them.
Also, I think it would make more sense (as mentioned above) if Apple and BBC got together to put BBC shows on iTMS.

Macs have again taken the lead in my opinion with OS X and the Dual 1.25.
No one will ever change my mind. Call me a zealot, but that is what I think.
I am in a critical thinking class, and we spend 3 hrs a day, 2 times a week talking about people who rationalize like BackToTheMac. "No one will ever change my mind"
That is complete suppression of all the facts that are given to you. I think its a shame that you logically in your mind come to these conclusions. I bet you think Friday the 13th is dangerous, and you have lucky numbers huh :)

Speaking of you Ralphie eyelikeart, I noticed a change recently. I'm just a little concerned, he appears to have some jaundice. Maybe you should put him under an ultraviolet light. Would hate to see him become ill! ;)

edit...As I said before, since 95% of the printers I work with only accept PDF files, it doesn't really matter what I use.
Wow, so that's how the other half lives....
We only get about 5% of our files as PDF. We accept any file you got, and I mean ANYTHING. Word, Excel:eek:, Publisher, Powerpoint:eek:, Wordperfect:eek:. Heck, we had a client send us a Broderbund Print Shop Deluxe file once   (OK, we re-created that one  ).
I wouldn't ever look to upgrade an application unless I needed a specific feature, personally. But some designer somewhere is going to buy CS2, and they are going to expect that their printer is somehow expert with an application the day it is released. We have 20 Macs and 4 PCs in our prep department and 10 operators to train, so every new release is a couple of grand down the hole. No wonder the company Pres. call us SS PrePress.

Probably true, but there is no reason why they couldn't have at least updated their website over the weekend. I can understand waiting for a weekday to release products, but it seems odd to me to wait until 2 days after your anniversary to post it on your website.
Anyway, I hope your right.

I refuse to think that a 19" iMac is an "insane" idea. My reasons are as follow.
1. The current clear and white border of the 17" iMac is well over an inch wide on all sides. It is plausible to have a 19" screen that is almost the same size as the 17" iMac (for reference, compare the screen borders of the Tibook and iBook). The TiBook screen border is about a cm wide.
2. The current base is large and heavy enough to handle 19" easily, although a larger base that allows consumer to upgrade video card etc. is a positive addition. The total weight of a 17" iMac is ~22 lbs, albeit the screen make up less than 30% of the total weight.
3. Call me weird, but there are a lot of people like me that wants to watch movies on my computer, and a 19" widescreen is much better than a 15".

Part One rumors consisted of the PowerMac and G5 combination, Part Two concerns the iMac, eMac, and laptops.
Since the general concensus is that Altivec (in some form or another) is coming to IBM processors in a lite version of the Power4, but what stops IBM from putting these vector instructions into the 750FX--IBMs flagship PowerPC processor at the moment.
An enhanced version of the 750FX, or 750FXe (as I've already posted one time before) would be a great fit for the iBook, the PowerBook, the iMac, the eMac, and maybe even the classic iMac--if they do not discontinue it.
So, here are prospects for use of the 750FXe:
iMac:
- 1GHz G4
- 166MHz system bus
- PC2700 DDR memory
eMac:
- 1GHz G4
- 133MHz system bus
- PC2100 DDR memory
iBook
- 800MHz G4
- 133Mhz system bus
- PC2100 DDR memory
PowerBook
- 1GHz G4
- 166MHz system bus
- PC2700 DDR memory
But, here's the great part of this entire thing. All of these computers would use the same exact processor, with the iBook receiving an underclocked 1GHz 750FXe. This helps Apple buy in bulk and thus lower the price of their purchases, which could lead to more inexpensive eMacs, etc. The other fact, is that the use of DDR across the board also means cheaper memory (or at least from Apple's standpoint, they'll probably still charge us an arm and a leg).
One a note on the DDR memory, the 750FX fully supports DDR memory, so the 750FXe would likely do the same. Some might question the use of crippled DDR in the PowerMacs and a full implementation of DDR memory in the consumer and laptop products, but a better PowerMac using the 7470 G4 from Motorola or a G5 from IBM is likely on its way soon.

It is so easy now to get the codes on the internet.
And 1000 bucks for a piece of software is a LOT for me, but maby not for people who make a living out of it
But these activation codes will be machine-specific, based on your hardware configuration so it's not like serial numbers...
If you don't make a living from it, then ask yourself 'Do I really need this software?'
