It's a thing about employees revealing apple stuff before apple reveals it.
For example, an employee could vent that they've been putting in a lot more hours per week, sorting out a new shipment. This would tell the public that they're coming out with a new computer.
Apple is famously paranoid about stuff like that.
Apple also likes the secretive atmosphere...even if security isn't too tight in reality, the simple idea that security is top-notch drives people wild and creates huge buzz for their products.

I'm still folding (albeit slowly) with my trusty G4 :)

It's a shame, however, that Apple will probably never link to this page due to the fact that they are not #1 on the list. The similiarity in performance of the G4 system and the Pentium system speaks highly of the efficiency of the G4 processor.

To the poster who wondered why a 14 inch iBook showed up as cheaper than a 12 . . .
Apple is running a "double your RAM" promotion. Because the 14 inch model has 256MB of RAM standard (128 soldered and 128 in the one slot) the only way it can "double" RAM is to go all the way to 640, while the 12 inch (with just the 128 standard) can double by going to 256. Hence the 14 inch is effectively getting a 512MB module for just $40 extra over a 256MB configuration, while you will pay a whopping $360 extra over a 256MB configuration ($400 over a 128MB configuration) for the same module on the 12 inch if you buy it from Apple. So, for the duration of this promotion, get the 14 inch model with all the RAM from Apple; but if you choose the 12 inch model, buy the bare minimum and get your RAM from someone who charges a reasonable price for it.
I wonder if the reason Apple set up "double your RAM" like this has something to do with sluggish sales on the 14?

Hi
I was just over at macuser.co.uk and was reading about a new CPU being designed at "Sharp". It seem's that the CPU is made out of glass.
Sound good but just dont drop the computer. arrrrrrr right.

Both Firefox and Thunderbird seem improved. If I can confirm that the plug-in problems are gone, I'll switch back to Firefox.

Well the 360 version is massivly popular on here - just expect Jimmi to jump in and say the game is bug ridden and unplayable.
The game is very good - if you dont have the other versions - i'd certainly suggest you add it to your ps3 list. :)
Flamebaiting? I'll bite. Bear in mind I wasn't going to post in here... Thanks MRU :)
It is immensely buggy. I'd be surprised if the PS3 did away with the texture loading bugs. I mean if you've played Halo 2 you'll have a foundation on what to expect. Try running off something with your horse and you'll still hear galloping noises and the running animation will still play.
It's full of rather basic problems that should have been spotted instantly (didn't take me long) by testers. Instead of which your left with a game that feels that it could be as super grand as WoW.

does it really work only with intel macs?
Yes. But there's some indication that if they can get x86/PPC networking to function (it has the same problem as C&C Generals in that regard), they might do a PPC patch. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

In a follow-up to the blog we posted on Friday regarding Take Two's
lawsuit against Jack Thompson, it appears that the Florida lawyer
has struck back with a response all his own. In the blog, you'll find
his full response, as well as my personal take on what he's
saying...that is, if we can figure it out. Here's the response, unedited
for your reading pleasure...
- - - - - - - - - -
"Dear Gamers and Gamer Publications on the Internet and Elsewhere:
I have been praying, literally, that Take-Two and its lawyers would
do something so stupid, so arrogant, so dumb, even dumber than
what they have to date done, that such a misstep would enable me
to destroy Take-Two.
With the filing of this SLAPP lawsuit last week, my prayers are
finally answered. This lawsuit, filed in US District Court for the
Southern District of Florida, is, without a doubt, the single dumbest
thing I have ever seen any lawyers do in my thirty years of
practicing law -- while in continuous good standing to do so with
The Florida Bar, I might add, the shock radio and video game
industry's efforts notwithstanding. I encourage folks to read
Psalm 35, a Psalm of David, which is brilliant in its entirety (since
God Himself wrote it), but for those who don't own a Bible or who
think their hands will catch on fire if they touch one, here is the
salient portion that applies to this lawsuit:
7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which
without cause they have digged for my soul.
8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that
he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his
salvation.
The pit Take-Two has dug for itself will be patently clear next week
when I strike back. Oh, and by the way, the entire Take-Two
management and board will be gone on March 23, so this
pit-digging comes at a very bad time indeed. Amen, and Praise
be to God Almighty, maker of Heaven, Earth, and yes, the maker
even video games.
Jack Thompson"

Actually, u would be surprised to see just how much he's got going on in his life. He's a busy guy for sure. He just gets downtime while at work, so he posts...quickly. ;)

what about high end compositing/film editing ? What about the high end graphics market in general ? 3D anyone ? Apple has been very aggressive buying various software companies and technologies in the field, when are they going to deliver a matching workstation ?
