I like firefox, much speedier than Safari (not a whole lot, but still noticable), and I hate the fact that when you have multiple GIFs on one page, that the computer goes up to 100% CPU and slows down... firefox doesnt do that for me.

It's solo able...but for me the charm was in the groups. The solo stuff is hack at a wolf, hack at a more powerful wolf, hack at a ogre, hack at... Sometimes it's just so dang repetitive...but the dungeons and caves are cool...but even then can be annoying...you get stuck with folks who play non stop and have done it 25 times and they spoil every little bit and there's 0% failure chance...takes the fun out....

I think they might release a slightly thicker TiBook with a superdrive. After all, they increased the iPod's size for the 20 gig. They just put it in the fine print.

Thanks to everyone for your insight. Seeing as how I have some time tonight and tomorrow and possibly over the weekend, I believe I will fire it up and see how it goes.
I am not opposed to forming up with anyone on occasion. I just don't want to have to depend on it. I would simply like to be able to get online, play and have a good time regardless of who else is on.
What I was hoping I could avoid was sitting around in a group of prepubescent boys listening to them talk about how cool they say they are all while we wait for the giant pickle monster to repop so that the pimple faced leader can bark commands at me so that I can have a shot to obtain the uber l33t girdle that I need to protect myself from the kid with anger issues who hunts down newbs to somehow justify his existence. I had my fill of that playing MUDs and it no longer fits my concept of fun.
Hmm. Nature of the beast if you're on a PvP server - but not all. I quit WoW after a year of playing - it just got tiresome. Especially when you get to the stage of pure leveling, it's pointless. However I have a mate that plays most evenings and does have fun regardless if he's in a group. He has about eight characters at varying levels and he enjoys that aspect of it. It really, really depends what you're after.

Safari is great, but on my PC I use Firefox. I don't know if I'd use Safari on a PC if I could, but the fact that they make Firefox for the Mac is a good thing for Apple overall, so they're probably happy that it's so popular for both platforms. No one says you can only use one, and the enemy of my enemy, and all that. This could only help if they both continue to work toward the same standards. When IE is no longer as dominant, it will be a good thing for Mozilla and Apple.
Plus, a little heathy competion is always a good thing for the consumer.

But maybe I will be suprised because by now I set my expectations so low...:D You can go to the education area of the Apple Store (http://www.apple.com/education/) where you can find prices that are somewhat lower for those available to the general public. You don't have to wait for promotions, although those may reduce your price even more.

It's owned by Rupert Murdoch.
Exactly. Shame that no-one replied to your post... Lots of things are crap and waste time, but this crap waste of time is owned by THE media oligarch.
Particularly telling is the BBC headline "Rupert Murdoch now owns myspace - "Detailed logs of its users preferences, online behaviour..."

No, the top of the line pmac will beat least a dual, has been for ages. Also with the multi processoing capabilities of the new chips, i think we may end up seeing quads, maybe at the end of life stage, but still quads.
And no intel, AMD or any other x86 cr@p i know can go quad. hmmm 4x1.8Ghz. All with altivec running photoshop 8 optimised for quad altivec.
Furture situation: hey mate when are you going to finish that photoshop filter thing on the tiff.
Arent you done yet, took me a few seconds, what are you using?
P4 3.2Ghz, what have you got
PM Quad 1.8Ghz, i was getting my sons assignment done whilst i waited for you to get your bit done,
(drooling in pants, wife comes by and runs off crying)
we will dream, but then thats what rumour sites are for.

i agree with you that pcs are faster and that some mac users will not see the facts today, but what major advantage does the faster pc give to me (the average user with e-mail, internet, office, and sometimes light graphics and digital photos)?
but it would be nice for the macs to close the speed gap someday, whether it's done with motorola processors or ibm processors
when i tell die hard mac users that one can do graphic design with pcs, they look at me like i am crazy
but today, in late- it's entirely possible and if a computer user is used to using pcs for office stuff and wants to learn graphic design, it's ok for them to learn on their pc (assuming it's not too old)
only if they insist on a mac should they learn that platform to do most types of graphic design
at one time, the mac was the only real choice
it's kind of like music and rock and roll in the early days of recording that medium...if the bass player wanted to record an electric bass, it was almost always a "fender" inc. bass that was used
even years after bass players started using bass guitars made by other makers, they would still often get credited on the album as having played the fender bass or being the fender bass player
today, of course, a bass player is simply referred to as a bass player and their instrument of choice is as likely to be another make as it is to be a fender instruments electric bass guitar

Apple's version will probably be more "glam" than that, with a white color schema, built-in bluetooth, the same wonderful battery as in the iPod, and direct-brain-to-software interface.

No offense intended...
... but you buy the flag-ship of the G4s for around 4,000.- US$ and you edit sound with the onboard sound of the G4, which is just cheap crap, connected to some PC-Speakers to the backside jack??? And that's what you bought the machine for?
I really can't believe it!
Buy a decent PCI sound card and you can work flawlessly with a very good sound. The sound-card shouldn't be the problem compared to the money you shelled out for your new G4... And also plug the card into a mixer and the mixer to some studio monitors (they are not that expensive anymore). The sound card will also give you digital in/out...
I am shocked (after 6 years useing Apple computers) that so many new machines have shipped with this fault . I am also concerned that they appear not to have adressed this problem on their support pages, a very bad move ( particularly in the light of your recent takeover of Emagic, makers of Audio Platinum). This could easily undermine Apples reputation among audio professionals.
And I am shocked that so many users again and again are using really "weird" set-ups for their intended work. Maybe you should have saved some money by just buying the little brother of the top-model and spending it for some pro hardware, giving you the tools to really do what you want to do...
All the professionals are using pro hardware and not the on-board sound of the G4, so what's the deal?
All i can say is that i will now be contacting the Applestore where i purchassed the machine for some answers, i fear the worst. Lets hope it's not a sign of things to come!
Good luck...

P.S.: As I said before... no offense, but be true to yourself! Of course there seems to be a bug somewhere with the onboard sound in some cases, but it sounds a little but funny that you have the most expensive Mac you can buy for editing audio and you don't use a good sounding sound-card instead of the onboard-sound. When you are satisfied with the sound of the onboard chips I doubt somehow that your "audio tasks" really need a machine like the DP1,25GHz G4. Even an old G3 iMac (same sound quality) is cool for that. My wife got one a few weeks ago and she is doing all the ***** with it... ripping and listening to mp3s and it is connected to her stereo... she never had a problem so far and the puppy is running the whole day in her little home-office. And it is running MacOS X 10.2.1...

That company has always gotten on my nerves. All they do is repackage open-source software (older releases of the software) and sell it. Does that not defeat the purpose of the open-source idea? If they really wanted to be cool, they wouldn't sell GNU software in download format.
Also, they could give everything an integrated name-theme.I totally see where you're coming from, but if you're not a savvy user, this may be an easy way to install it, so you don't mind paying the $30... Just a thought.

It looks like a substantial application development environment and the subscription seems reasonably-priced at $99.
How many Java developers on Mac OS X will bite? I'm interested...I just wish that Sun and IBM had talked first, developed a joint technology for development and allowed different GUI and features to implement on top of the same insides and plug-ins.
