How many people here still believe that Vista will ever see the light of day?

GameHippo gave Satan Sam 9/10, I value that more than a drunkard 10/10.
Lie. Would still have liked 10

UPDATE: We've received word from Sony that you will indeed be able to play games while downloading content in the background. Similar to how downloads on the Xbox 360 works, you'll be able to play games offline while downloads work in the background, and if you hop online your queue will simply pause until you disconnect.
Thankgod - knowing how long some of those downloads take - restricting what you can do is bad mmmmkay....

Agree with tyr2, a 2 MB limit is insanely small.
If you have access to the unix command line on both ends (use Terminal on the Mac), you can use the 'split' and 'cat' utilities to split up the file. For example, before transferring, you would do:
split -b 2m file_name
This creates 2-MB files with names 'xaa', 'xab', 'xac', and so on. Transfer them to the host, and then on the host do:
cat x?? > file_name
Of course, if your host is really this limiting on upload sizes, I have a feeling that they don't give you access to the unix command line, and thus this method will not work.

Hey, I love my Mac too. Apple needs to put a P4 in their machines. They already have Mac OS X.2 running on a P4 in their labs. I don't see why wait delaying such a system. Sure, it may not run AlitiVec apps as fast as it should, but a dual 3GHZ PowerMac, or 2.8 Ghz PowerBook, would outpace any G4 or G5 they plan on releasing in January any day of the week. Apple's plans to go to a G5 in Jan. doesn't make any sense, even to somebody stupid. It is just a waste of everybody time and money.
Woop dee doo. Wow, is all we are going to get in Jan. 2003 is 1.5 Ghz G5 from Apple? Even that wouldn't come close to 3.2-3.4 Ghz P4 Intel plans to release then.
That is problem. Apple's brass has to much pride and are to stupid to dump Motorola and go with a P4 or at the very least an AMD Athlon XP for their CPU.

i second this. folding is how i found MR, and reading the orginal catch me thread between dreadnought and atzyman is what got me going down the road to addiction...
Once I hit the one million points mark, I vow to start folding under the name Dreadnought and contribute any future points to help him climb the ranks to the lofty position he so rightly deserves!

I am definitelynot a 'power user', but I am a hardcore gamer. And when I see a friend with a year old PC playin Warcraft with less jumpiness then my 6 month old powermac, it makes me want to switch. Power does matter to me, and you cant get much power for the amount of money I have when it comes to computers from apple.
So what do you use your mac for except for playing games???

The first time I inserted a DVD I had to pick a region, this is on my 2 year old PowerBook G4. It might be a Mac OS X 10.3 thing ?
I see that you're in the UK. Are most DVDs over there set for one region, or many? Here in NZ most DVDs support regions 2 and 4, so you get asked which one you want the first time you insert one. Maybe the UK is similar.

Lots of good tips, Nagromme, but I was able to get the thing to vertically spin without the SHIFT modifier. I think you just have to have it lined up on the axis or something. Too bad you can't get it to spin on both axises (yes, axises)

But it also means that the G4 has an extraordinary amount of life in it. If the 7455A will clock to 1.5GHz before Apple pushes the 7470 into the PowerMac, we'll be using the G4 until the 2GHz level is reached, and more importantly, we won't have a true implementation of DDR memory for quite some time (maybe a year or more).
But, I am truely considering a dual-867 due to this news.

Sebastian Ballas, PearPC's lead developer, said a screenshot of CherryOS shows a variable named "SPIRO MULTIMAX 3000," a nonsensical term Ballas claims to have invented for use in PearPC.
Busted. Fess up dude, anyone who's read the story knows this is a hoax.
