Thanks folks. Don't forget, you have to state that you want my Work Unit (WU) when you vote or I just assume you're just helping me out but are not interested in the points. From what I gather, only Dreadnought is interested in the points. He/she is now added to the list to receive my WU if I win.
Thanks and keep folding!

I used to play on 1.52 g4 mini with 512 ram. Hooked it up to a 61" HD tv. It ran, but really laggy in cities. Pretty much had everything turned down.

A bug in the design of the P4, PIII, and AMD processor has been exposed. Using plugins during a period of near silence, causes the CPU too spike which can cause unwanted noise, sluggish performance during playback or recording, and even crashing.

It's like a little 5 dollar sword and shield combo from Toys R Us glued on a painted Wii. If that's your cup of tea I know plenty of kids stores that sell that stuff cheap.
And I never run out of ammo in Halo :D

I'm indifferent to the mod (it looks like good work, but not my style), but that comment was hi-larious.

The Five Eras of the Macrumors Forums
Chapter 1
In the beginning there was blakespot and he said "let there be forums" and there were forums. Thus the Macrumors forums were created. The ability to allow comments on news articles began to draw a community that soon swelled to near 1500 and there was rejoicing. Alongside the rejoicing came flamewars, but mostly rejoicing.
Chapter 2
But alas, not all was well in the Macrumors forums, the admins grew dissatisfied with the rather primitive comment system and thus the site integrated a new backend. Gone was the primitive comment system and in it's place stood the glorious pillar that was vBulliten. And so it came to pass that in April of the year of our lord 2001 all of the existing members departed on an exodus to the new forums.
Chapter 3
Bu August 2001 the ranks of Macrumors began to swell and many familiar faces such as dukestreet began to arrive. Over the next few months Macrumors enjoyed a massive influx of new sane users. But in Feburary 2002 the serenity was shattered. A chosen son was cast out of the glorious forums by God himself, never to return. The message was clear: "One cannot go aginst the word of God." And while most accepted this a few dissented and were exiled or fled.
Chapter 4
Community Discussion was enjoying it's golden age until it was shattered. A massive influx of posters with no other purpose then political discussion arrived. The sane members fled while a few were trapped by the Siren's call of flame bait. Finally the political threads were exiled to the darkest corner of the forums, in the hopes that they would never be seen again. The demi-gods began to roam the Earth alongside mortals in this time, it was a time of magic and strife. The Gods even delegated some of their powers to a few Chosen Ones.
Chapter 5
We now live in the fifth era. New members who somehow accumulate massive amounts in a short time continually amaze while Hell's minions still attempt their occasional attack on the forums.

Hmmmmmm... It's been asked and the answer is that Motorola would have no interest in selling just the PPC or Altivec to anyone. Motorola currently makes a profit by selling G4 chips to many clients, which Apple is just one. If they were to sell off their PPC properties or Altivec, then what would become of their other clients.
Realistically, Motorola would love to liscense out Altivec to IBM or Apple. It's a no-brainer since they'd get a cut of every chip sold. IMO, what's holding this deal back is that Motorola is probably insisting that IBM could not market to Motorola's core customers OR that IBM just doesn't want to use Altivec because it would validate Motorola's chips as being superior.
Motorola has offered, in the past, to let IBM use Altivec, but IBM declined and went their own way with PPC development. Apple hitched their wagon with Motorola. The rest is history.

I haven't seen anything mentioned here as a decent game that's not also available in Japan. All they sell here are the Jap imports and they have all the "names" mentioned here...plus the Pokemon game everyone's on "pins and needles" for :p

Looks like you have a Campus Rep on your campus.
http://www.apple.com/education/campusreps/
They do all the marketing on college campuses and are college students, just like you haha. You could apply to be one on that site.
Wow I've never see that before. I'm gonna have to check into that.

Just an authorization for service.Hmm, that sucks. You can't bring it into an authorized Apple repair place or reseller to ship back? I'm glad I live near so many Apple stores. :o
And, AppleCare costs $59, might it be worth your money to shell out a bit extra for more/ potentially better coverage?

Hey c'mon, there's exactly no more heat on a Powerbook than on any other Computer. Yes, you can feel thermal properties on a 1 inch thin computer (1 inch includes the flip up display by the way).
I use a PB 800 MHz - 60 GB - with 1 GB RAM. Yes I feel thermal properties but it is nothing to worry about at all. If your totally stressed about some people complaining about an electronic device displaying thermal properties, take Apple's word for it and don't listen; or take my word that these people are the same people who complain that their fridge is warm on top, or that the water tastes funny.
After hours of use, or after leaving it on for days and days, I can fold the PB up into sleep mode and put it in my Brenthaven Titanium 1 carrying case along with my Canon Optura 200 MC DV Camcorder and all the chargers, batteries, and cords that connect them and the total weight is just about 10 lbs (around 4.5 Kg metric).
I used to use a PC, but beleive you me, now I think they're PP. My name is BenderBot1138 and I'm very cool using my Powerbook. :D

Hi !
The german website Heise presents the new features of MacOsX 10.4 Server
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/55700
They think that the Tiger OS, will be launched approximately the same date than the "normal" version would be.
Check also apple's page : http://www.apple.com/macosx/ No one talks no more about Panther !

i haven't actually chosen the TV yet, will be a 42" HD LCD is all i know for sure.
i am not worried about an incredible frame rate or anything, i only get 15 FPS now! but i was told that using DVI to TV will actually cause WoW to crash. i am not sure why, but that is the word on the warcraft board, so i thought i would see if anyone else had experience there.
i am not sure if this is an issue only with the intel machines, or only with DVI, if perhaps component works, etc, that is why i am looking for other experiences.
...i hope they update the mini soon, i am ready to buy, and the mini is due a refresh. ;-)

I was in the Apple Store and used an Intel iMac for a while. It wasn't any warmer than any other iMac G5 I've used. It might have been cooler, and it had been on all day and used by numerous people I'm sure.

Apple can keep complete secrets why can't Motorola. The only time we catch wind of new products from Apple are soon before they are released. Apple doesn't just make these things in a few months that the rumors are around. Computers like the new dual/ddr have been in development for at least a year or more.
So everyone keep your chins up and trust in Apple to lead us into the future. Meanwhile I'm not waiting for the next thing because your just can't or you will be waiting forever. Meanwhile I'm enjoying my new Dual Ghz/DDR.
that would be great if motorola came out with something far beyond most of our expectations
dual ghz/ddr sounds very cool:D certainly, it beats my ibm g3 chip in my ibook
