Now what does that say for a G5 @ MWSF?? I don't see it being released, maybe IBM will end up taking over. If Moto can't give us 1.25ghz right now they got issues.

I tend to agree with Shrek.Positive thoughts about the new hardware could result in sizeable improvements.As a believer in creative visualisation i think we should have a poll and create a spec that would please most people.Then we meditate every night and visualise said spec,picture it in your minds eye,feel the emotions that it would invoke in you if you had it and hopefully said machine will condense into matter.

It seems we have a rival :D, if you can call it like that. It's about the same as folding, but is seems it is more specific for a couple of deceases. When I first read the title, Rosetta@Home, I thought it was only for the new Intel Macs that where folding with Rosetta, lol.

In my last post of June 15 2005 I stated I was #330. Now on July 11 2005 I'm at #259. I love this.
Just a heads up, I got involved with folding after sruviving colon cancer in 2002 then in 2004 I lost my gallbladder (it burst) and now 2 weeks ago I was informed the cancer has now returned to my liver :(
I'm scheduled to go inot surgery on July 28 and will be loosing at least 75% of my liver (if it's healthy enough to survive) I will be back ;) ;)
FOLDING@HOME is a good thing, and I feel with our continued help and crunching the answers to more than just protein folding can be accomplished and the cures for diseases other than those listed on the home page:

I think when he says Menu Bug he's referring to a problem when trying to use certain sites that have drop down menus in their navigation.
You roll over the navigation on a site, the menu pops down, you move your mouse to the drop down and it disappears. And back to Safari I go.
I'd really like to switch over to Firefox. The other thing I"m looking for is inline-spell checking like Safari.
ugh, the principal reason i use safari now. its just a pain to hit return while mousing over an item...

I ahvea HBH-15 from Ericsson, I use it with my T39, it's works very nicely, so if I have to fill up the car, I can still be talking to someone while pumping the gas. Anyhow, it's works nice, and no, it's not heavy at all. It get it's power from a little stand that you plug in, battery lasts a good 4-6 hours at least. It's a very good device, and I'd be overjoyed if the iPod came with Bluetooth (wait, no I wouldn't, because then I won't be able to use it wih MY iPod!! :D )

MySpace is an atrocious abomination of blogging and personal webpages. The sites take forever to load (if they load at all), the interfaces are useless, and they automatically start playing crappy low-quality music without even asking.
I try not to think about it because I think it makes my blood pressure rise ;)

From what I've read, the Power4 has many differences from the PowerPC line, though not significant enough to create a new platform. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if it took much more optimization of code to take advantage of the Power4.
The G3 is a great processor, and if it were paired with Altivec would easily beat the G4 (considering the Sahara currently supports 200MHz system buses and DDR memory)

The title is misleading to most n00bs.
You can't copy commercial DVDs with this program, not going to happen.

But there are multiple free programs that do this. What Popcorn does is compress vduel layer dvds so they fit on a one single layer writable disk, and burns them in the DVD format. (I think there is a way to do this with Disk Utility, but it is not easy.) The thing is, there is no free compression engines right now. Popcorn's main competition is DVD2OneX, which costs $50 and is *only* a compression engine. It would be great if there were a true one step DVD ripping solution out there for mac, but right now there isn't. Popcorn is a little bit cheaper (with these rebates a lot cheaper) and little bit easier to use, but from what I have read, does not produce as good quality rips as DVD2oneX does. Either way, you going to have to use MactheRipper or some similar program first.

My understanding is that the Origami concept models had some serious limitations... they were rather bulky, and they did not have substantially better battery life than notebook computers. I think the core idea sounded like it had merit, though....

The power consumed by one of these is very little as it is mostly receiving (as anyone who knows radio signals will tell you, receivers can even have the batteries taken off of them and still have enough residual power left in the circuits to pick up the signal, be it not for very long) this means the batteries needed are getting smaller and smaller. You simply recharge when you get home. The "point" to all of this is you can walk around without trailing a 6 foot wire behind you.

I Have just recently bought a steering wheel to go with Grand Turismo 4 on the PS2. It is a logitech driving force pro that is reccomended as the wheel for GT4. I was wondering is there anyway I can use it for my mac as it connects via usb???
